The most important thing for homeowners to remember is to only work with reputable contractors.  Never work with door to door salesmen who offer to do your driveway at a reduced price due to the fact they have left over materials from a previous job.  These are almost always a scam, be sure to choose a contractor you can trust.  Homeowners should always be sure to get quotes from several companies.  When comparing the quotes make sure that the companies all used the same quantities and specifications when offering their quote.  Another thing to look for in these quotes is that the contractor specified the asphalt thickness as compacted thickness as this will have a great effect on the quality of the driveway.  Remember, that the lowest price does not necessarily mean it is the best price.  Consider all aspects of a quote and not just the price.  Examine the materials that will be used, the overall design of the driveway, and the reputation of the contractor.
